In spite of the wintery weather, the students at Alliance Middle School are soaring high! As we enter third nine weeks, I am proud to celebrate student successes to this point in the school year. I would like to thank the dedicated teachers and the hard working students for their efforts this year, as growing scores on tests are indicating that the students and teachers are preparing and getting ready to be successful on the OAA and beyond!
Within the middle school, over 220 students earned a 3.5 GPA or higher for both the 1st and 2nd 9 week grading periods! In addition, the attendance rate remained high in which students come to school daily to receive a great education from the excellent staff. Highlighting students in 6th grade, over 100 students earned Ace status, in which weekly incentives were provided for their stellar behavior. In addition, currently over 97% of the 6th grade students are mastering the curriculum and are on track for placement in 7th grade. Not to be outmatched, in the 7th grade , 63 students earned “Top Gun” status and 29 earned Ace status, and over 60 students earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher! Finally, as leaders in the building, students in 8th grade have been preparing for their transition to high school. 8th graders recently participated in the Explore test, which predicts how one will perform on the ACT test. With this information, students will be meeting once per month with the counselors for transition planning, transcript review, and/or high school goal setting!
As one can see, we are working relentlessly to grow each student while providing for a fun learning environment. Our hope for each and every child in our building is that our focused, committed work will have positive results, Transforming Students Into Career and College Leaders!
Good luck and best wishes for an amazing second semester of 2014!
