ALLIANCE, OHIO – (June 13, 2024) – Brian Reed has resigned as principal of Alliance Middle School (AMS) to accept a position in Tulsa Public Schools.
Reed has children and grandchildren in Tulsa, Oklahoma and accepted an administrative position in the district in order to be closer to his family.
Reed was hired as principal of AMS in June 2021 after spending 13 years as a middle school administrator at Lake Local Schools. During his time at AMS, he has helped to create a culture within the building that focuses on caring for each student individually. This past year, he led the initiative to incorporate Project Ignite, which has helped teachers to create a student-centered culture that strives to inspire hope among the students.
“Brian has been a great addition to the Aviator team the past few years,” said Shawn Jackson, Director of Secondary Education. “He came into the district wanting to bring life and energy to the staff and students at Alliance Middle School. His leadership has fostered a sense of pride among students and has ensured a positive experience both in and out of the classroom.”
Superintendent Rob Gress will recommend Tim Mosher for the vacant position at the Alliance Board of Education regular meeting scheduled for June 25. Mosher has served as assistant principal at Alliance Middle School for the past two years and looks forward to stepping into the principal role beginning the 2024-25 school year.
“Tim has been a great asset to Alliance City Schools since joining the district in 2021,” Gress said. “He will work tirelessly to ensure staff and students both are proud of and enjoy teaching and learning at AMS. He understands and believes in the importance of a positive, supportive culture during the impressionable middle school years. He is the best candidate for the position and will make sure we continue to prepare all students for life, college and careers.”
Mosher came to Alliance City Schools from Tallmadge City Schools where he served as assistant principal and athletic director at Tallmadge High School. He spent his first year in the district as a social studies teacher at Alliance High School before joining the administrative team as assistant principal at AMS.
“I am honored at the opportunity to move into the AMS building principal position and excited to serve Alliance City Schools and its excellent community in this capacity,” Mosher said. “I look forward to continuing to grow the culture that we have been building together over the past couple of years. I plan to hit the ground running with the start of the new school year and continue providing great energy to the building to help our students grow academically, artistically and athletically.”
District administrators and the Board of Education will begin the search for a new assistant principal for Alliance Middle School immediately. Interested candidates can apply for the position on the Alliance City Schools website.
