The AMS tracksters continued their successful 2018 season at the Lake Meet of Champions Middle School Invitational on Sat, 4/28. Competing against a very strong field of 17 teams - including the likes of Jackson, Massillon, Glen Oak, North Canton, Perry, Field, Lake, Louisville, Marlington, Cuyahoga Falls, Woodridge, and others - both the Aviator boys' and girls' teams finished in 5th place. Jordan Simms dominated the long jump field, setting a new meet record in winning the event by almost two feet with a personal best leap of 18 feet, 7 inches, a mark which currently ranks 6th in the state. Simms also placed 5th in the 200m (26.04), and anchored the 6th place 4x100m relay team (52.11). Jermaine Lawson shaved over a second off his time in the 110 Hurdles, running a blazing 16.64 to finish 2nd. In the process, he moved into the top 10 in the State. Lawson also ran a leg on the 3rd place 4x200m relay team (1:48.31) Li'Airah Prather, who is ranked in the top 10 in the state in the 100 meters, placed 3rd in 100 meters in 13.29, 4th in the 200m (29.36; 29.09 in prelims), and ran a leg on the 3rd place 4x100m relay team (56.48). Reese Grisez placed 3rd in the 100 Hurdles (17.93; 17.73 in prelims) and 6th in the 200 Hurdles (33.43), while also running a leg on the 3rd place 4x200m relay team (2:01.03). Carva Hancock took 2nd in the 200 Hurdles (29.88) and 4th in the High Jump (4 feet, 10 inches). Rylan Thomas placed 4th in the 100m (12.43; 12.30 in prelims), 5th in the 400m (1:00.24), and was on the 3rd place 4x200m relay (2:01.03). Gage Ford placed 4th in the Long Jump (16 feet, 5 inches) and was on the 6th place 4x100m relay (52.11). La'Kasja Edwards placed 5th in the Discus (73 feet, 5 inches). Emma Huff tied for 4th in the High Jump with a PR jump of 4 feet, 4 inches. Leah Cameron placed 6th in the 200m (30.07; 29.13 in prelims) & 8th in the 100m (14.02; 13.63 in prelims). Other point scorers included: Dymond Oesch, Xnai Hatcher, & Neveah Russell: 3rd place 4x100m relay (56.48). Dymond Oesch, Xnai Hatcher, and Emma Reese: 3rd place 4x200m relay (2:01.03) Nathaniel Woerther & Ovi Jones: 3rd place 4x200m relay & 6th place 4x100m relay (52.11) Other athletes setting personal bests: Maddyn Thompson 800 meters (3:02.56) Rylee Horning 1600 meters (3:04.32) Breanna Dawson Discus (59 feet, 7 inches) The AMS tracksters will be in action again on Monday (4/30) at home in a dual meet against Marlington, and then on Wed., 5/2 will be at Salem for the NBC Championships. Both meets start at 4:30pm.

The athletic department will be hosting free physicals good for the entire 2018-19 school year on May 10th to any interested current 6th-11th grade student. In order to get your physical on this date all paperwork must be submitted electronically by going to alliance-oh.finalforms.com by this Tuesday, May 1st. No paper forms will be accepted. Students without all paperwork submitted by May 1st will still be required to complete the paperwork online and then obtain their own physical. If you have questions or need a copy of the sign-up instructions please call the athletic office at 821-3972.

You have a couple more days to bring in non-perishable food for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank !!! This is an organization that supplies food for the Alliance Community Pantry which feeds many in the community. Bring your food to any ACS building by April 26.
