The Alliance High School Social Justice Team and the Choirs joined together to host the annual Diversity Night last week! The theme for this year's event was "Connection Through the Arts!" The program was all about how the arts bring people together from all over the world, and allowed us to celebrate and experience how different cultures have impacted the arts.
Attendees heard a variety of songs from the choirs and even saw a step dance performance choreographed by AHS Alum Ande' Green. The evening featured student speakers including the Alliance Middle School Pathfinder essay contest winner, Gabriel Cox, who read his essay titled "Beyond the Month: Reflecting on Black History's Personal Impact." The night ended with the AHS Jetsetter performing Michael Jackson's "We are the World" and "Black or White."

Superintendent Rob Gress was recently interviewed by the Alliance Middle School News Team! The students asked him questions about the dress code policy, how he decides to call snow days and even about why he likes being a superintendent.

Aviator Families,
As many of you may be aware, there was a large-scale water outage throughout much of Alliance yesterday. While the break has been fixed, there is now a boil advisory in effect for many areas of the community, including Alliance High School, Alliance Middle School, Alliance Elementary School and Alliance Preschool. Due to the extent of the boil alert, all buildings in the district will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 23.
While the boil advisory implemented by the city is precautionary in nature, Alliance City Schools must take it seriously. This particular advisory calls for boiling water that will be used for food preparation, consumption and washing hands. With this precautionary measure in place, food preparation would be challenging in the district and students would be unable to use sinks and water fountains in the impacted buildings. As we always want to prioritize the safety and security of our staff and students, we believe it is in the best interest of the students and staff to close all schools for Thursday and will plan to return on Friday, Jan. 24 pending acceptable water test results from the city.
We will keep all Aviator families updated on this matter.
